Well, what happened with Aion? I thought this was supposed to be the biggest game ever from NCSoft, and all I can find on these forums is about how it sucked a week/month after they got it. What killed the game? Is it even worth playing now?
So would you say it's still worth picking up if you're still interested in that kind of MMO? Has NCSoft ruined it like Lineage 2?
If you mean "ruining" like NC doesnt care with bots, then they do care, but they cant achieve any kind of victory; kinah prices are ridiculously low, all kind of farmer services are available, and the business is booming.
To me it felt like we'd all been there before...maybe later on it gets to the fresh content but I really don't feel like grinding through all of that again.

The grind is pretty much nothing compared to L2, getting to 50 is easy as fuck and the best PvE equipment can be acquired through quests lines that may take about 2 week if you're unlucky. I don't call that a big time sink.
Seriously, they held x2 xp week ends for the past 3 weeks, and they plan on doing it once a month. The "rested" xp bonus is obscene considering how fast it fills up and how long it last. Also every month you get prizes just for playing, including amulets that boost your xp for 1h. It's just so easy >.>
Now people coming from WoW will find it grindy as always.
Then again, there's no reason to rush to max lvl, there isn't much to do after that...
Eh, I'm playing with an old friend from Hindemith way back in the Prelude/C1 days of Lineage 2. The game is fun though. The graphics are mind boggling great, after playing WoW for the past 3 years non-stop.
Plus the retarded midget creatures start to get to you after awhile.
Yeah that got annoying as fuck.
Dunno, to me the game just felt really clunky. Especially the aerial combat. And the PvP just wasn't that great. It was a lot more balanced than L2 for sure, but people just hump towers and only fight when they have a clear advantage (numbers, levels, etc).
I don't think there will ever be another MMO that was as much fun for me as L2 was. Sure it had a shitty grind, but at least the PvP was good and there wasn't any of this pussy instance shit.
I miss fighting for the best leveling spots, raid bosses, and castles. Or just throwing down because we found some people out in the middle of nowhere. haha
Don't get me wrong, L2 was far from perfect but I think out of all the MMO's it was the most fun I've had gaming. Other than my rank grind in WoW of course, that was awesomely fun to.

its l2s community based politics that sets it apart.
is the one game i played where it involved the players, and put them at each others throats, and for its tyime and even still its a cool game,
fantasy mmo always do very well.
l2's open pvp
and then summons, pets, (ie cool shit to ride, stryders)
castle sieges (and being able to use cool shit in them, golems, stryders etc)
it always striked me as a game with alot to do in it, thats why i got all into it
Stryders were gay and sieges became too political, put yourself in my shoes for a minute; running around for hours looking for pvp and rarely finding it, fucking tedious.

I'm thinking Tera will be my next game. Its from the L2 team and looks pretty much what L3 should be. Not to mention it's going to have an open pvp and karma system similar to L2's.

but... but... half of the playable races look fucking dumb to me... lol @ "poport", "aman", "baraka" shape&graphics
Eh, I thought it was nice to see a change from human, elf and dwarf. We'll see once it releases I guess. Hopefully they allow some type of customization of items and characters. L2 really lacked in that area.

Fuck that, if I couldn't find PvP I'd make PvP. There's always some one new to start shit with.
I rarely ever had problems finding PvP but then again I pretty much knew where to look when I logged in.
I guess what I really miss about L2 is the open PvP system. The ability to just outright kill some dumb ass mother fucker for being stupid etc, besides there wasn't anything like going crazy red and finding some hole to work it off in. I think that's how I got a good amount of the XP I did get haha.
Not only that, the PvP had meaning. Not only was whoever died losing XP, they looked bad, and it cause more political tension between clans.
That and there was usually always something going on, or something to go do. Be it, pvp or xp.
I hate these MMO's now like WoW, you hit level cap in 2 weeks, gear out and be ready to raid in less than 24hrs played time after hitting 80 and have nothing to do but raid 3 days out of the week so you sit around bored in town forever. The PvP is boring and predictable, and the game runs like shit. My computer more than triples the recommended requirements and it runs like fuckin ass compared to games with 10x better graphics etc.

That's not how you gotta roll. You gotta do what I did. Fuck up low level characters until they call their high level friends. Then fuck up their high level friends.
Good.
Before I forget, next time we play together something, pls remind me to use the name "Trosskydd", wich is a badass name imo, and also mean "pantiliner" in swedish. I've learned that while I was making shit and read it on my gs's box of pantiliners.
lolz
Lost interest after hitting 50.. didn't really get into the end game instances as they take 2-4 hours every run..
Went into pvp mode after hitting 50, combat in flight for melee is completely broken.. so I would rift into enemy lands.. that were completely empty aside from a handful of people worth killing. That was the last straw since I had seen everything and figured I would just wait for the next expansion before trying it out
The pvp itself is great when it happens, definitely needs some timing/skill to play properly.. it just wasn't often enough to spend 30+ minutes running around to find 2 targets worth killing..
Aion itself has some awesome potential, even the support from NC has been stellar compared to L2.. but that doesn't exactly say much.. it just doesn't seem like the same company. But alas, once you play through it a few times.. it starts to lose its flavor.
Too many other amazing games out there to waste time grinding out Miragents/Fenris sets.. we all did the same thing in L2 with gear etc..
I like it so far. Although, I am playing fairly casually and I am not rushing to 50. It does so many things better than L2, but it still seems lacking. Deep down L2 was a shitty game with shitty game mechanics, it was completely unbalanced and not user friendly. However, it had something intangible that made it a blast to play. I dunno it must have been the politics and the user generated story line. Anyway, I am playing elyos on azphel with a few redemption people and Llah.

MOAR LIKE THE ABILITY TO MODIFY HTML FILES TO HAX THE INF ORE QUEST MANG, AMIRITE?
Sorry, that's actually a bit mean. But you shoulda let that be your signal to quit outright, lol.
Haha, it's not mean. What's mean is reporting me for it just cause you're not getting a cut of the profits and slandering my name with accusations of things I didn't do.
I hacked the HTML files, I used walker, etc... I openly admitted to it. Sadly some people just can't handle when you throw the truth back in their faces. :P
The awesome thing was that I was selling enough adena on sieg alone to be able to pay my rent and bills at the time without having to have a job. That's mostly why I did it. hehe
The MMO I'm waiting for however is SWTOR. I've heard a lot of good things about it. So until then I'm just biding my time with WoW, CSS, and other games that really don't require a lot of time.
Yeah well L2 made people do some crazy shit, it's like a fucking drug with none of the awesome hallucinations.
Reckon I'm off of MMO's for a long while, have enough fun leveling up stuff in FPS games at the moment even if all online games are fucked cause they're hosted by dirty yank cunts.
