Nope I dont think I could ever game off a laptop, and id probably end up spilling something on the graphics card and frying it anyways.

There's no way the interface could be fast enough to game on. GG

Just to play Sanche here, you don't think there is any possible way someone could make it work John? Laptop's are getting pretty big these days, and plenty of people game on them (pretty sure Endaer games on his).

I game on my laptop right now, because I have no other decent comp :/ If I had more money I'd buy a desktop asap.

No I mean there's no way that the computer could connect to the graphics card in a fast enough way to give a decent performance boost

Nvidia is failing pretty hard these days, the only two things they've been successful with as of late is ion/tegra.

I did play on my laptop, indeed - but a month ago I sold it to a friend of mine. Right now I have only a desktop, 2 years old but still runs good; for example, Bioshock 2 is finally out, and I can run it quite good. :)
brb bioshock2
Edit: no, I wont buy an external vga card. I rather spent a shit ton of money on a decent new config, i7 with SSD drives, actually ATi Radeon vga cards and DDR3 2000MHz rams, that wil be good for anything in the next 2 years for sure.

I can never justify the price of x58 vs p55.

I'd never game on a laptop. I like my triple 28 monitor setup.
Archaos
February 9th, 2010, 12:00 AM
what do you even do with three monitors that big? twenty eight seems too big.

I live off my 2nd monitor couldn't do shit with out it, 3 28's tho is pretty huge overkill for anything lol

Like I said, it's great for racing sims. Kinda sucks my setup wouldn't fit in my dorm. ;(

I'm not saying Star Trek Online is good, but in this vid you can see how could it feels if you have 3 monitors. Imo its really cool.

Yeah that does look pretty badass, but it would almost seem like a disadvantage with most competitive games. Tougher to overlook three monitors than one. I guess I could see it for driving/flying sims though.

except the large plastic side of the monitors
i would not buy an external gfx card for a laptop, but many would
i could see it using firewire or sata on the go (just external sata lol)

XGP runs a 5770 fine(It says 5870 radeon mobility but its a crock of shit)
That card has trouble saturating a PCI-E 8x lane, let alone PCI-e 16
I don't get why Nvidia is even going for this marketplace, its a niche as it is. Their head is way up their ass. From the constant renaming of slightly refreshed vid card/GPUs to entirely new "generations". To failing to bring GF100 in a decent amount of time, to failing at yields that are cost effective.. I don't know what the fuck they are thinking.
Hilarious thing is as I understand it they still are profiting, after all this crap.

Are they going to be entirely new cards? Wonder how higher end cards will handle power needs too, gonna have to have the laptop plugged into the wall to game for more than an hour? lol

3 x 28" for driving sounds awesome, overkill for anything else, but for racing its awesome, totally functional in a proper racing sim also.. clean overtaking and avoiding other drivers is key, need the peripheral vision to get that done
another way to go;

I'd buy a nice 993 Carrera S- Full cage, Hoosier R-Comps, seats, suspension, steel braided brake lines, hawk race pads, new rotors, instrument cluster, sequential box, LSD, new steering wheel, and possibly a muffler delete.
