Hello everyone

Ive been playing AION on the chinese servers for about 6 weeks now, but over the last week I have started getting a serious issue with my PC shutting off during the loading process or once I have actually managed to login to the game, and the players and NPCs start appearing. I have even upgraded my old 7950 graphics card to a 9500GT and this is still happening.

I have a dual core 64, 9500GT graphics card, 2 Mb ram ect but cannot work out why this is happening.

I think it is something to do with the cpu or graphics card overheating, if I leave the PC off overnite, I can login and play if I load the game as soon as the pc is turned on, but then when I have to enter one of the more populated areas such as Eltnan, the pc shuts off within 20 seconds of my player spawning, while the other players are still appearing on my screen. Then if I try to login and load game again, my pc shuts off between the char select screen and my char spawning in the game.

I have run spyware and virus checks, and found nothing that could be causing this, I have updated my new graphics card with the latest drivers. But I dont know that much about the integral workings of PCs (im a gamer) so I need some help from the experts out there to help me resolve thius and allow me to play this awesome game :)

The pc was cleaned of dust when my brother installed the new graphics card for me, and all the fans are working as they should be, I have not overclocked anything, and was able to play with no issue for the first 4 weeks until this started happening ><

Thx in advance to anyone that can offer me any suggestions on how to fix this.

How are you cooling your system? Sounds like your CPU is burning up and is either shutting off as a safety precaution, or damage is being done and killing it, causing your system to go dead.

I used to use this on my Dual-Core - http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_page/product_page/cpu/u120ex-1366rt/product_cpu_cooler_1366rt.html

How is the airflow inside your case? Do you have fans in the front to pull air in, and fans in the back to push air out creating a wind tunnel like affect to keep your components cool?

Thanks for the replies, after reading them I got my brother to come round and have another look and the problem is now solved :)

It turns out that when my brother installed and fitted my new graphics card, he also fitted a new heatsink, and some how mananged to attach its fan on backwards >.<
Now thats the fan is facing the correct way, everything is back to normal.

Feel free to use this experience as a reference for others who may suffer from the same issue.

Thx again for replies.

Unless you're driving a convertable, and the rice grains fly off and hit you in the eye.

And yes I'm aware of what a ricer is.

Some chink prolly. Hell bulk cheap transport if you make the entire car from ricepaper.

umm firstly i always suggest a fresh install of windows

lol to many ppl fucking around with shit and don't think they caused anything when they have.

secondly if the problem still persists you may want to get a little more ram then 2mb =p i assume 2gb lol in that case pretty shitty but meh 2gb is good enough for alot of ppl.

but ya secondly check into the cpu/heatsink, etc, get a temp gauge or a digitial thermometer, and check the case temp. etc

i think around 20-30 degrees celsius should be good, (my pc runs at 22 ish usually)

anything over 60 degress celsius or 140 fahrenheit is way to hot.

i'm not gonna assume gfx card overheating cuz you said you replaced that

how many fans in the case? how many on the psu? good air flow through the case? fans sucking from front - blowing from back?

if a side fan and near cpu, should have it sucking in air with a duct to the cpu fan/heatsink

well i guess that depends, i believe most cpu's blow air onto the heatsink to disperse heat rather then sucking it off, so gonna assume yours is that way as i think thats how it should be =p but some ppl debate that =p i've heard it makes no difference either way

Sounds like the heatsink isn't quite on. Make sure that shit isn't knocked loose.

Isn't the problem already solved? Why are we still solving it? Shouldn't we be making fun of the Aion people for being so polite?

I have all the files downloaded into the same folder, do I need to unzip the folders? I've tried two different programs to do so but nothing has worked, I get a cannot open as archive notice. Basically I'm stuck with the 5 open beta files and not sure what to do...

post a screen shot or something of the folder

i'm confused, thought the beta installer fully installs the game.

I have those 5 files that the guide said to download. I'm having problems going from this point

err that guide was for chinese open beta

but you would run the setup and the setup would unpack those rar's

NA beta's already running 1.4, and NA retail will be running 1.5 (which is awesome finally nc soft isn't being retarded and keeping us with old version of game at release)

if you fail to get that installed here is a newer client (i think)

http://www.gamershell.com/download_48634.shtml

its like 6.11 gbs, my aion client is at 8.87 gb already (1.4)

Do i need a code for http://www.gamershell.com/download_48634.shtml (http://www.gamershell.com/download_48634.shtml)? Or is there a way to get into it?

the game is awesome yes i recommend playing it, pre-order is up to you, the game is available via steam with some neat extra aswell

i hate steam i wouldn't myself buy it through steam but the extra's are enticing, wondering if you could buy it through steam, get the extra's on your account, then just get the client without steam.

i just hate running steam to run other games lolz

pre-order only gets you into the beta events for NA, which are almost over, cb5 starts today sometime, and i think there is a cb6

but theres a wipe anyways alot of ppl aren't interested in the beta cuz of the wipe.
