Aion client seems laggy / not very responsive, in the menus and stuff before login, gameplay is sweet though, quests are fun, easily able to click links in text to place markers on map and stuff. Grind doesn't seem to bad, combat is way better then L2 so grind actually is sorta fun, so far, not as boring as L2 grind, even when it was beta and it was all new.

hehe love the games cinematic effect with the camera, using game render content for the movies, its awesome, like fps games (heh runs on cry engine...) happens when u die, umm sometimes in quests, i'm sure for boss raid etc to

chat looks quiet extensive, many channels, can make your own private channel etc, hard to use with fucking chinese everywhere no one talks lol, and can't read many ppls names

Gameplay is a mix between Lineage 2 and World of Warcraft. You can choose from click move(l2) or WASD(WoW), or have both. The casting bar, map, quest system, and looting system resemble WoW. Combat is the same as l2, you auto attack mobs, auto move towards mobs when attack, and auto face them when casting. You still shout gibberish when casting a spell too! Hotkey system is the same as l2, 3 bars on the bottom and one on the left. But this time all of them can be rearranged. Everything hotkey can be remapped, plus a lot of other WoWish options you can choose from. Stats, GUI, Inventory, Emotes, etc still remain l2 style.

4 Classes: Warrior, Scout, Mage, Priest
All the skills you start out are essentially the same as l2. Warriors get some powerstrike thing that does a lot of damage. Daggers don't do shit with melee attacks, they get a refreshable UE still and mortal strike lol. Mages get windstrike (cept its fire this time) and a root spell. Priests get a nuke as well along with 2 healing skills. Everyone gets bandages so theres less downtime.

Overall the game looks and feels good, but there is nothing original that you haven't seem from L2 or WoW.

you've said the last on the region list afaik, and thats what I choose too.

Btw, Open Beta ends at 16th of April! We dont have much time left! :( This info came from the guys who told me how to connect to the chinese open beta.

Edit: the english translation part of the content lasts till you hit lvl20-25, the above stuffs are not translated yet. The 90% of the game videos, animations are missing now, just like the english synchron voices, etc... The preview events was promised to come during the summer, around that time the enu.pak should be finished.

There was 2 type of transports in most places I went, a gatekeeper and a flight master, they perform exactly like GK in l2 and flight master in wow, but they wouldn't let me teleport until I got my wings. Im not sure if it makes a difference but I went the dark faction and I know you went the other.

i think for dp after lvl 10 and u do those quests, when u kill mobs u get dp, so far i have 230

i have a skill i got at 10 which uses 2000 dp called divine strike

ya before 10 your human, after the quests at 10 your a deava or w/e i assume dp = daeva power or something, everymob i kill now i get it

after you come a daeva thing you can't gather human materials either, ie iron ore

yah I have a buff skill for a pet that costs 2k DP..although I dont have a pet yet..and apparently you get more levels of DP..where the bar goes from green to yellow. weird stuff

My DP skill is pretty neat, gives my summon a 10 minute buff that increases all his stats..and makes him one hell of a DPS help while tanking and regenning faster. Im still unsure on how much I have to rely on him as I have some great DPS skills like one where I summon 2 fireballs that continously attack targets.

minor power shards and the rest of power shards are soul shots, but cate was telling me auto toggle is broken, so you gotta use em L2 Prelude-c2 style

i'd assume you get a shield mastery sb around 10, i'm not sure, thats when i got my dual weap mastery

sometimes it would let me loot, sometimes not, oh and then the china guy got a drop, a boxed popped up and i had to press a button to roll a dice to decide who got item, that was neat, i lost though lolz

Its probably based on the 'quality' of the item. Other MMO's have a loot threshold, so more common items you can just pick up, but rarer ones will be rolled for by the party - in Warhammer you have the option to chose need, greed or pass and it's possible to turn on an option that will only let a party member roll need if they can use the item. So maybe it's similar to that?

there arent any ultimate OP classes in Aion, at least as far as I know. Wich class is overpowered? When you can attack from behind, assassin for sure. Sorcerer is a good dps class also, but a ranger (wich is the lowest dps fighter class) can kill the sorcerer fastest. I was wondering what could a class do if it is buffed, but I couldnt party with any chanters... so I've no further personal experiences yet.

I was promised to get some first handed end-game content experience before the NA retail starts, because the hungarian Aion fansite has a good relationship with NCWest, and NC offered them like 30 accounts with lvl55 characters testing endgame contents. I've no exact informations about the dates and other details yet, but I'll post everything I can get.

afaik gladiator is with pole in Aion, but Assassins is a very skillful char, the class itself has potential.

maybe its OP against glads and I dunno what else classes, but every class has its own ultimate encounter. Assassin is definitely a pretty strong class, no doubt, I'm just unfamiliar with it so I dunno which class can defeat Assassin easily. I'll ask around for you.

From what I read the game still needs a lot of balance. So right now Assassins are the top DDs along with Sorcerer. They're much better than any other. They're supposed to be more vulnerable than glad/rangers but they hit for much much more and therefore can kill before getting harmed.

I also read that ranger just sucked, but that was 3 month ago, maybe they tweaked them a bit.

I played one up to 14, so I'm not sure how the other pets are as I only tried out the fire one. It seemed to be sort of weak but when I got my DP skill on it everything changed. It seems as if the spirit master gets a lot of good speciality skills they can use with or without their pet, like my summoning fireball skill was very strong but costly in mp, probably a good pvp skill.

Yah I see some of what I was saying, the DP skill is a 10 minute buff that increases almost every stat making the pet a DD/Tank, but without it I couldn't see the pet damage as more then a dot. It has aggro skills so you can make it a tank if you want, sorta reminds me of wow warlocks although I think I'd take a voidwalker over fire spirit :P

That is nice, since I plan on using windows 7 as soon as it releases. We really should start to organize an Aion group. I'm not sure if the game allows clans but we could start setting something up here along xp groups and list who is going to play what classes since I assume we will all play at least on the same server if not together.

Tried a rogue, a warrior and a cleric so far. Highest I got is the warrior, got him to first class change to templar. It's been fun so far.

Mostly played Elyos, only my cleric was Asmodian. The hair down their back is kinda a shitty touch, but otherwise they're cool.

All in all game play while leveling is fun. The combat seems a little slow paced compared to L2 and WoW but it's not bad at all. Leveling goes at a decent pace so far though my highest char is only 17 so not really certain on how harsh it gets later on, though for now I hardly notice it with all the damn quests there are to do you aren't staring at your xp bar like L2.

My only real concern is how bad the farmer population will be when Aion goes live. Hopefully it's not like L2.

Also... graphics wise this game is amazing. In WoW I couldn't run full settings without raping my FPS and it has shit graphics. Aion I have everything maxed and never notice FPS lag unless I'm in a high population area (Major city) or just loading into a zone. Other than that it runs like a champ.

NC Soft did it right this time. I think they learned from their mistakes with L2. haha

Don't know yet how balanced PvP is but the videos I've seen look like it's fairly even.

I find the quests really bland, that and if you're into exping with other people then you really need a questing buddy - as soon as you're a few quests or levels apart your only option is to grind. And grinding in this game feels worse than grinding in L2, although not worse than open beta L2 grinding.

Only gotten to 19, lost steam for pushing to 20 and so I haven't had a chance to pvp but the rest of the clan sounds like they're having a blast with it - apparently it's faster combat than the pve side.

I haven't had a chance to get past 18 myself. I could grind but meh, questing is faster and right now all I really have are the group storyline quests. Since it's way fuckin early in the morning and last day of closed beta not many people are doing it. I'm assuming OB will be way more popular.

I'm really really surprised as to how many people are playing in the CB. Aion is a promising MMO for people who are bored as shit with WoW and looking for something different where it takes more than facerolling your keys to get to the level cap, obtain the best gear, and still suck at your class.

Me, I'm happy with Aion. It reminds me a lot of L2 but in a good way and much improved on. Judging from PvP videos I've seen it looks fairly balanced but I could be wrong on that aspect, wont really know till I get to try it myself and I can't wait to.

There's a few things I'm still wondering about. Like the economy and a few other misc BS things that I wont really know till it goes live, but other than that I just like playing it. Visually Aion is fucking amazing, and the funny thing is runs better than WoW does. <3 Cry-engine.

I just can't wait for it to go live. My only real peeve right now is rangers don't really get much at the lower levels and it sucks unless your grouped. Gladiators are fun a hell though and I'll give the rest of the classes a try during the OB so I know for sure what I want to play during the 48hour head start. :P

For now though, I'm just lacking a solid group of people who want to roll Elyos. =/

You're bloody right about the engine though, they sure as hell didn't butcher it like they butchered the Unreal engine for Lineage. This thing runs fucking smooth as anything.

I'm kinda bored of it already but that may be because of the whole character deletion thing, so I'm not passing any judgements till it's live and I've experienced some pvp, although a way to get pvp at lower levels would have been nice. Warhammer spoiled me in that way. Fun pvp from level 1 was the lulz.
