Saw Grand Torino and Taken.

Both excellent movies at least 4 out of 5.

Clint Eastwood at his best. Good story, although a little predictable.

Taken

Liam Neeson at one of his best also. Slightly predictable but bad assed. He is a cold motherfucker, as you should be in a situation like that. My favorite scene is when he comes to take Marco and hides under a dead dude and shoots the guys that come in the room where he just killed 4 dudes. Then he give him an electrical lawn chair ride. Only thing I would have liked him see more in the movie is burn some buildings down. What a repugnant and evil thing sex slavery is.

Great movies!

Yeah haven't seen taken, as usual Erick's review sucked ass and didn't really review much so I'll just watch it on my own and then formulate an opinion within my mind. I may even choose to project that opinion in the form of text to the rest of you on this very forum. Only time will tell.

Just saw Moon with Sam Rockwell.

Good movie.

Guy is coming up on the end of a 3 year contract of harvesting energy on the moon and is looking forward to coming back home the Earth. Some things go wrong and he find something out that no one wants him to know.

Great movie. Sam Rockwell was perfect in this movie. Good story and great effects for being technically a low budget movie.

5 out of 5.

Eat a dick kid.

Taken was such a satisfying movie to watch.

Yeah it's rare to see a pragmatic character with a pragmatic series of events in a movie like that.

I remember there was a similar movie with Arnold Swartzneggar where he was a fireman that had his family killed and him and John Leguizamo get revenge on the drug lord. Collateral Damage. Terrible movie.

Transformers 2

Watched it last night. Weak story. Annoying camera spin around shots romantic storyline awkward and cheesy. The bots of course are awesome but the movie had a rushed to be made kind of feel. I rate this 2 out of 5, maybe 1 out of 5.

Diluted version of first movie.

1/5? That movie had constant laughs, even if the pictures at the end were the funniest part, that doesn't mean that was the only funny part.

I'd give it a 3.5/5 at least.

in all honesty seeing that movie was not my decision I went along with it, I figured it couldn't be as bad as what I thought.

I was wrong.

Generally I actually do stay away from movies its just some nights you are bored and have nothing to do.

Erick is a lazy fag so he won't do a bruno review so he is putting me in charge. Instead of doing a deep analysis i'll just give you what you guys should know.

I saw bruno the other day and I have to say it has alot of hits and misses for me, none of this is because homosexual stereotypes are implied. I absolutely love the satirical nature of the film, and there is a large selection of awesome gay jokes. However, with saying all that I have to say this really felt alot like a borat II with new characters, it uses the same format and basically applies the same jokes with a gay lining. Its a good movie, but I enjoyed borat more a little bit. It still induced alot of laughs, but I felt like i've seen alot of this humor from cohen before.

4 dicks out of 5.

oh, and i'd say that id recommend it if you are looking for a simple comedy that isnt mind numbingly boring and dry like the hangover... its something good to see if you're bored on a weekend.

Archaos
July 14th, 2009, 02:07 AM
Yeah, it goes for more shock value and has a lot more nudity. Borat was a better flick because it came out first.

Pretty much like he says, it's borat with heavy, HEAVY gayness. There are some very funny moments. He goes to a hill billy swinger party and this grotesque blonde with huge breasts is whipping the crap out of him so bad he falls out of a window and runs away in his bikini briefs.

The thing I like about Sasha Baron Coen is he shows the ridiculousness of people by acting ridiculous. He pushes on people's confort zones and breaks the laws of what people believe is descent and normal. People are so full of themselves or whatever silly thing they believe in that the don't usually notice he is outright mocking them.

One of my favorite parts is when he is interviewing the parents of aspiring child actors/models asking them if their child would be comfortable in all sorts of dangerous and bizzare filming/shooting scenarios and all the parents responds with a "Yes my daughter loves being in high speed crashes" " Yes we can have my daughter lose 10 lbs in a week (daughter weighs 30lbs)

Then he takes a picture of his little black baby "OJ" puts him on a crusifix and has little white baby roman soldiers. Hilarious and wrong all at once.

I say 2 out of 5 vaginas. But it is very funny and I think with the twisted sense of humors you guys all have, you will laugh.

Archaos

Yeah that lady was just fucking ridiculous. She must feel so stupid now that the movie is out. I realize some of it is staged, it's a film, but those interviews with the parents seem to be real.

Not really a review but I was fairly impressed with district 9. When it started, I was expecting a cloverfield clone but it evolves into something I enjoyed.

Anyway, its an awesome entertainment film if you have nothing else to see, they did a fairly good job with the CGI for what cg can do. It certainly deserves the praise its been getting.

3.5 DICKS OUT OF 4.

Gonna see Inglorious Bastards a little later

Did see District 9

Awesome movie. Alien weapons were spectacular, the story was good. My favorite thing was seeing the mech suit tearing people up.

The sequel is going to be bad assed.

They filmed it in South Africa, the director is from there. No one really wants to go to South Africa, aparthied is over so media has no interest.

Inglorious Basterds.

Great movie.

It is of the same ilk as The Guns of Navarone, Bridge over the River Kuai, The Day the World Stood Still. Epic WWII movie.

It has graphic violence, has dark humor it's probably the best movie Tarrantino has ever made. If Kill Bill was supposed to be his martial arts movie (which was ok but didn't capture the martial arts genre very well) This movie captures the right essence for classic WWII movies.

A couple continuity problems, but what Tarrantino movie doesn't have this?

5 out of 5 Go watch it.

Ok went to see it today, and it was great. Christoph Waltz was just perfect, for an actor relatively unknown I'm surprised he could pull off something like that, top notch acting.

The movie was fun, violent, over the top, a few plot holes but nothing too bad, all in all, it was really enjoyable, the whole cast was pretty good, and Waltz deserves an oscar nomination for his role =)

Go see it if you haven't ^^

Inglourious Basterds was awesome. Extremely Tarantino (half the characters were massive film buffs i swear). I went into it thinking lots of action, but once you get over the fact that (in comparison) there's alot of talking you start to appreciate the acting and dialogue.

Another plus point is that Tarantino doesn't appear. My fuck he's ugly.

The Harry Potter books are fine if you remember they're kids books. Too many people take them too seriously, when really they're pretty shit in terms of characters and plot.
As for the films, a crock of fucking shite. The last one was just painful seeing rubbish actors trying to do subtle romance in a U rated film. DO NOT PAY TO SEE

Yeah not worth it... And the acting was uninspired and boring. Wizard using spell without any incantation is somewhat dumb too, as it was important in the book.

Oh and the attack on the castle was so anti climatic, it felt like they needed to finish the story from the book but spent all their time/money on earlier scenes so they had to rush the ending. Heck, the most important scene in the movie was really shitty. I know Snape is supposed to look unnsensitive but it doesn't mean the acting must be that flat... The guy's using the most powerful spell possible... in the movie it looks like just any other spell, said in a uncaring tone.

Terrible movie all in all.
