Im having some issues overclocking my CPU/RAM for my system. I can boot into Windows fine, however a Prime95 gives me this error after a few cycles. No freeze ups but I feel like im not getting the full power out of my CPU. Currently I have my CPU running at 2.45ghz, the other day I had it at 2.6ghz however it would have random lockups during load ups of certain applications. Hopefully someone here has more experience with my MOBO/CPU/RAM and can give me some advise
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4

when you are OCing to 2.6ghz are you leaving the ram on lose/forgiving timings as well as a lower multiplier? It could be that your ram is causing lockups....as the memclock @ 266mhz is double that effectively(that means your ram is running at above ddr500 speeds, and the ram is sold as ddr400 speeds).
my recommendation is to lower the ram multiplier and then the cpu multiplier to 9x before upping the FSB. also, prime95 has been known to have issues that aren't necessarily "accurate". for instance on my current machine it locks up, however in every other test i run the system is stable.
try doing superPI 8mb passes, those are usually more accurate. then for the stress test do 32mb.
there is also the possibility that you just have a bad stepping, from there you can't do much.

I have a more simple solution.. don't overclock, because you won't notice the difference

That must be fun to tell people @ dell tech department for the XPS. :P
For the most part id agree with you, there are some cases where it makes a difference however. (Like 1.8-3.2ghz for example).

My comment was in reference to the present.
AMD currently suck giant whale cock.

intel has been sucking whale cock for years now, your point?

If you want to be podantic about it, then ok.
The competition between Intel and AMD has actually been quite close for the past 5-10 years.
Theres about a 3-4 architechture generation cycle between when one is on top, and the other is on bottom.
Usually, the performance of the chips from either company arnt too far apart.
This is not the case at present.
As such, anyone going out and buying an AMD is either a trademark fanboy, or an idiot, who rightly should be stripped of all their money and compensated with shit performing goods / services.
I am not such a fanboy, I have had AMD processors in the past, and likewise, I have also had Intel (and currently do).
I get whatever is the market leader and has best value for money.
Even at performance per dollar, and energy useage per dollar, intel wins out on AMD's current lineup.
My statement was a reference to....why in the fuck would anyone buy an AMD processor, in spite of previous statements regarding perfoamce / cost ????

on price vs effectiveness there are quite a few situations where performance per dollar is not better with intel.

Currently lots of people by AMD, for instance HP and Dell use AMD processors because they are cheaper, and of course in that situation those companies love cheap.
Also, I get alot more usage out of a cheaper processor. In the games I play I don't need top performance. Additionally, I will admit that if I was to buy a new computer currently, I would go with a c2d.
Intel has probably made one of the smartest moves I have ever seen them make with c2d. Using Pentium M tech to release a desktop processor was a very good idea.
However, Intel was behind for many years with their processors in gaming performance, i'd say the last 7 years. And it could go back farther than that but at the time I wasn't paying much attention.
In my opinion, the best processor intel ever made was the pentium 2.
AMD could never be as far behind as intel was 5-6 years ago. Sure, its sad to see AMD making so many delays, but considering that their processors have gained more market acceptance they aren't really taking a loss. Phenom will be good anyways. I just wish they hadn't launched AM2 so soon.

My friend's Dell is evil. I tried formatting that shit and it wouldn't let me access the BIOS. It would just deactivate the keyboard when the BIOS screen came up. lol.
