Are they all gone now? I heard about the RIAA doing something about making it more expensive for the licensing fee's, but was it that big of a jump?

This is certainly not fair on the smaller internet radio stations. I'm sure the big corporate backed stations will have no problem with this and will see their listener numbers increase due to the reduction in choice.
I'm sure Quay will be fine. He'll find something else to put his energies into.

It goes a long way to abolish about 3 quarters of the internet stations out there because the fees are retroactive.
It is disgusting in my opinion that the RIAA can do shit like this, its like telling me that I have to eat a certain cereal and I have no choice because I need to protect SOME RICH BASTARDS RIGHTS.

Fun fact: this isn't about making money for the RIAA, it's about saving terrestrial radio. One of the things killing traditional radio is internet radio, who have a lot fewer restrictions than terrestrial radio due to the lack of a real governing body like the FCC. With this, it makes it harder, nearly impossible to compete with terrestrial radio.

so basically it fucked em over even more cuz i don't own a radio (honest)
except the one in my car, which if i ever get a nicer car i'd get sirus sat radio instead.
ppl just gonna load their mp3 player up with more songs and listen to that.
no one wants to listen to the radio, i don't want to hear ad's bad dj's trying to be funny. more ad's, traffic report, weather report, more ad's, a song that i don't even like, more ad's

Exactly, the radio sucks. I honestly haven't listened to a music station in my car in forever, I just listen to CDs or NPR. Recently my folks got XM Radio, that's pretty badass. I'm thinking about buying an XM set (it's only $50) and paying my parents the $4 a month for a spare receiver. Well worth it.
