View Full Version : eVGA, one hell of a company

So I recently RMAed my 7900GTX due to bad RAM on the card, and received a 7950GT in return. Over the last few months I've put it through its use, and I just couldn't get the same performance out of it that I did my 7900GTX. Tonight I decided to finally complain, and logged in to the eVGA forums and made a post. Not 20 minutes later, an eVGA employee called me up, told me that that shouldn't have happened, and that I'd be receiving a 7900GTX or greater.

In all honesty, when I made the post, I didn't expect anything out of it. I'll be buying eVGA for the rest of my life because of this experience with them.

Wow, so it's like a company with customer service that actually means something??
Rare find there.

The company I'm working for (that makes me use an alias last name) is something of a scam artist company.. They sell items they may or may not have, and expect you to pay credit on it when you haven't and may never receive it. Most of the calls are irate customer service calls.. and in true L2 fashion my personal script goes as follows..

"Well Mr/Mrs ______, I completely understand your concern.. My name is Joshua Christmas, let me see the status of your account here.. Rest assured friend"

8800 GTX SLI...TOTAL BEAST

And you have no idea what is going on in my pants...but that can be easily fixed.

for 8800 GTX SLI there isnt even a processor yet that doesn't bottleneck it.
lawl.

Not the point. It's still beast as hell.

Overclock the shit out of this bitch and you will be pretty damn close to not bottlenecking.

i always found intel to be overpriced

Intel is so much better than AMD right now that AMD is trying to cut their prices to try to get buyers to give them a second look. That makes Intel look overpriced.

Talorth

AMD>Intel

:P

<- fanboy.

For the record, C2D is faster than any AMD processor... that is obvious

But I still am a fanboy.. :P

umm from what i remember last time i shopped for one amd was always cheaper

but yes currently the core 2 intel r faster
and intel has quad core out now to or soon?

Grindrolas

intel has a "fake" quad core out atm, AMD's "true" quad core is coming out this summer or fall. Comparing C2D to AMD's chips is like comparing a fresh apple to a rotten one. One just come out, the other is how old? A fair comparison will come about when AMD's next chips hit the market.

And for the record, Intel has always been more expensive than AMD, regardless of who outperforms who.

Yeah, but with the recent price cuts, it's ridiculous.

Phenom will compete with the current quad core C2Ds :)

(AMDs Quad Core Offering = phenom.)

Phenom is going to dominate them.

damn right it is, and I'm going to try my damnedest to get my hands on one of those oh so sexy processors.

but back on topic, a friend of mine who also RMAed a 7900GTX a few months ago got an 8800GTS back for it, so heres hoping I get a decent dx10 card out of this fiasco.

BLACK
June 30th, 2007, 12:28 AM
8800 GTS is a good card.

Yeah she is...but she's not cheap, although she will help you win poker games.

eVGA ftw, been with them for almost 2 years now. I got the eVGA nFore680i SLI motherboard, evga geforce 8800 GTs superclocked :D

ps intel > amd. I overclocked my E6300 from 1.83 to 2.8 ghz with just the stock fans.. honk honk

nerds.

anyway, I went down to my dads office and remembered he probably had a decent video card in his office PCs. One had a Radeon x600 and the other a nvidia FX 5200, I duno how good either is, but I'm guessing they both beat my shitty gefore 7300 LE ?

So lemme know and I'll just swap them out.

x600>7300>5200 I believe?

I'm not entirely sure, I don't pay much attention to midrange because they suck so bad to begin with.

its all some of us can roll with.

FX 5200 would be the least. I have that right now and it's pretty piss-poor.

yeah i took the Radeon x600, theres a noticeable difference.

fucken 7300 LE sucked my balls.

I have no personal preference anymore towards companies etc etc... If the reviews say it's the best then bam it's mine. The thing I've noticed is all companies have fallouts, Nvidia had a big one and ATI dominated them for a long time... Now ATI just doesn't compare TBH. AMD used to blow Intel out of the water, now they're pretty much the same.

TBH we aren't going to see the BEST performance we can out of all this hardware until Microsoft pulls their head out of their asses and makes having a 64bit OS worth it.

Talorth

AMD is the one that began producing chips with the idea that "more per clock" was a better approach than the conventional more clock less per cycle method that Intel was using to market their processors as being "fast" at the time.

AMD also has a better track record in my opinion of new ideas (Pacifica anyone?)

Currently I think the X2900 isn't that bad of a video card at all, the problem with this generation of cards is the lack of midrange on both nvidia and ati's part... (Pisses me off quite a bit.)

whats bottlenecking ? and what kinda card should i be getting, cause I'm buying one this week.

Grindrolas
July 4th, 2007, 05:14 PM
Bottlenecking is...well, think of a god damn bottle James. Its neck is very thin, and slows the contents from coming out any quicker. If you have a slow processor, a new video card will not speed things up because your processor is working as quickly as it can.

Archaos
July 4th, 2007, 05:37 PM
thats all i needed to know.

This card pretty good ? I was considering buying it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121031
Or maybe a similar one by eVGA since they seem so good.

And is there anyway of telling if it will bottleneck before hand?

whats your CPU again?

fucken expensive :S

i still have to get a new power supply as well, cause this stupid ass one doesn't have a 6pin.
