Been to both. Where did you end up staying when you went to Dartmoor Wig?

I have a load from Beaumaris Castle on my phone, but I haven't got them to my PC yet

In Tourquay. We were walking distance from everything we wanted to see there. Cost £156 for 2 nights between us, so worked out pretty cheap really.

We stayed at my parents house when we went up to North Wales.

I know Dartmoor pretty well. This is the house where my uncle grew up (if you look at the history my uncle's father was Joe Sweet). There's a staircase at the back which they claim is 16th century but my uncle knows better cos he built it ^^

That's sweet, it'd be cool to visit a REAL castle. How restricted is the access to a place like that? Or can you just roam freely? >.>

Entrance fee was about £15 for two, then you can roam freely.

In Caernarvon, that means lots of pretty together towers to climb, complete with rooms. 2 levels of inside castle wall corridors linking the towers together, all the way round. The castle walls themselves. It's a pretty good castle to look at. Beaumaris on the other hand is a bit more dilapidated (sp?)

This is the castle in the village where I grew up. There's so many in the area that the four houses at school were named after the closest ones. Used to play up there all the time when I was a kid. It's easy to forget that some countries don't have stuff like this.

You could see Caernarvon castle from my bedroom window, although it was across the water (Menai Straights) and on the mainland.

You could also see the steam train chugging up Snowdon on a really clear day.

The awesome part is that in Medieval II I own Caernarvon castle! Yes!
