This (http://users.on.net/~bplee/Pics/WORKPLEASE.jpg) is a fastish illustration created for a school assignment. I intended it to be used to give a sense of the lighting and atmosphere in the level I'd designed, rather than to be an accurate, well balanced piece of fine art.
If anyone has any constructive comments to make on it, please do.
If anyone feels the need to derail...feel free too. I'd do it to any thread you made.

Needs more virgins, virgins and blood, other than that it looks quite cool altho maybe a wee bit too dark

Yeah I get that alot when I do stuff on my home computer...think it's my monitor. I'll try touching up the brightness/levels tomorrow on the school computers.
I'd very much like to do more blood and virgins, but they'd not add to the information I'm trying to convey with this particular image T_T

I like how the ceiling is so dark it almost looks like it just keeps going, but needs more floor imo.
Damascus
April 10th, 2007, 05:31 AM
Humm yeah, I don't think I covered the floor in enough detail in any of the other illustrations and skestches for the level, cept for the texture I made...come to think of it, it is kinda odd having the floor as that solid black chunk... @.~

That's like both, but more.
I also made this (http://users.on.net/~bplee/Pics/Temple/arch%20detail%20colour.jpg) today to give more information on the windows and to prove that the texture I'd made tiles well.
Too bad it's nothing at all like I wanted the wall texture to look like. You can't have everything!

Funny you should say that - part of the design brief was to set it within the Stargate universe.
And yeah those windows are kinda fucked lol. Should probably take the glow away and make the stone framework around it cast a glow. If I had more time I'd work in more details like keystones and border stones on the arches etc...but I don't have time T_T just making more crap to try and boost my grade now lol

The skills you learn there should be pretty easily transferrable, particularly if you could get your hands on a wacom tablet.

SG1 universe, I am all about that shit.
First things first, it looks fucking awesome, except it has no ground.
Needs more ground.
Seccond thing, the red hue thats outlining most the structure, I would change that to either a subtle light blue, or yellow.
Ive never seen a red gould mothership, so -- points there bub.
Otherwise, needs more floor.
Also above the central piece, you need like the head of one of those horse looking god things, the same sorta helmet look that the jafa wear (when its all the way up), as a religious icon centerpeice.

great work I think they might look better with a little perspective instead of just straight on views of what your drawing, unless that was one of the criteria or something t.t

Nah, I wanted to involve more perspective (and the floor) but I never actually intended to go that far with it - I had a flat 2d image made in Illustrator to just help myself visualise the shapes of the columns and arches...then I got carried away when I took that in to Photoshop.
Like how I had this (http://users.on.net/~bplee/Pics/Temple/arch%20detail.jpg), and after messing around for a few hours I had this. (http://users.on.net/~bplee/Pics/Temple/arch%20detail%20colour.jpg).
They're mostly just images made to give a modeller a better idea on what kind of texturing and lighting I'd like, as well as some idea of the geometry. We had the choice to model the level ourselves, but I'm pretty shit at it.

Didn't read all the posts but it's very red for stargate, most of the colours they use are not in that spectrum, like they use alot of blue's and greens, not alot of reds (seems more startrek then stargate). :D

Flange:
Term used for describing non-deseribale vaginas.
Would you close your legs please, I can smell your rancid flange from here.
The sight that greeted me was not appealling - red, sore-looking spots surrounded her swollen flange.
