Oh, for my choice I have to say MGS1.... particularly the twin snakes remake. (Although the voice acting for gray fox wasnt as awesome. BLACK MAN VOICE ON A NINJA, I MEAN CMON, its too bad his voice wasnt used in twin snakes :(.) It had my favorite characters, A fallen soldier from zanzibarland revived and then upgraded with an exoskeleton, psycho mantis, sniper wolf, and etc, (even naomi even though her little hissy fit was annoying). Plus, the fact that the decoy octupus was pretending to be the darpa chief at that one point, the mysteriousness of foxdie, and the entire plot/story as a whole was almost perfect. Alaska is an amazing setting.

Sons of Liberty was a little too 'out there' for me. And although mgs3 was fun to play, I kind of found the whole 'evil justice league' thing a little weird.

MGS1 was the only one were snake was omgwtfawesome too. (The part on the boat in mgs2 was fucken AWESOME till the "I LIVE ON THROUGH THIS ARM" part. oh god, lol horrible flash backs...)

MGS1 on PS1 for me. Twin Snakes was AWESOME, but they destroyed the voice acting. The female characters all have ACCENTS in the PS1 original. In the remake, they all have California valley girl accents, even though they're all the SAME VOICE ACTORS FROM THE FIRST. Other than that though, I don't think a game has ever pulled me in quite as well as MGS1 did, I was completely immersed. Close behind is MGS3, it had the best gameplay by far, and an amazing story to boot. MGS2 was basically "HOLY SHIT PS2 EMOTION ENGINE LOOK RAIDEN HAS NO PENIS, GAY VAMPIRES AND INVINCIBLE EMO BLACK CHICKS ROBOT COLONEL".

As much as I loved mgs3, i couldnt stand the whole OMG EVIL JUSTICE LEAGUE. And alaska fucking pwns as a setting, so mgs1>*.

Yes there was psycho mantis, but that was at least somewhat believable and actually ADDED SOMETHING.

If they could remake it with a next-gen engine on the PS3 using a lot of the newer gameplay features that they put into MGS2 (ala, first person view, hostage taking, dragging bodies etc.) it would be fucking best remake ever.

well, twin snakes looks good enough that it is possible... I think the graphics for twin snakes are timeless enough that it shouldn't matter much.
