the answer to the ps3 in almost every way, only lacking the unproven HD format of HDDVD or blueray.

no WiFi.... = for the suck. Dunno about you but living in a fairly older house = don't have ethernet cables in my walls.
Smart idea though, the limited quantity will drive the price up.

ps3 has WiFi ?
or just Wii ?

I'd never play any online games with WiFi. If I don't have an ethernet cable, I'm not playing it.
WiFi is for casuals and scrubs.

That makes absoulutely no sense... You mean to tell me you like putting holes in walls to put your ethernet cable into your lounge?
Personally, I don't want to buy another hub just for a console... (Out of ethernet ports.) Second, the ping times between wired and regular is negligible when you are that close and have a decent router.
Most people have WiFi, if they have a broadband connection... and I don't think people want to put holes in their walls...
Microsoft isn't looking at their demographic with this one completely. But I suppose its geared towards the "l337" peepz that would really punch holes in their walls to game.
Sorry, but I think nintendo is the only one out there that isn't fucking stupid and actually making money here.

I don't want to quote the lines of bullshit that was posted above. But yes, I'd rather have an ethernet cable in my 360 and comp than wireless.
And don't give me that Wii console shit. It's a worthless system for anyone that wants to actually play real video games, and not just fuck around with their buddies when they're drunk.

I'm a big kid now!
Seriously, take off the training pants and grow up. The rabid 360 fanboyism gets old fast. Consoles die out not even after a generation ends. Enjoy busting holes in your walls for a ethernet cable, but just because thats what you do doesn't mean the regular consumer is going to. I was referring to their targetted audience, which doesn't want to be doing that. They want convenience. Its why the "shitty" wii does so well.
Real video games is your opinion, hahah. I didn't know that such an assinine conclusion could be summated by a person's taste in games. The term real in this situation is severely rhetorical at best.

Having worked in technical support for quite a few AMERICAN internet companies, I can without a doubt say that most people do indeed have wireless. Atleast, if you want to count your average consumer. It isn't anywhere near as reliable, so I understand what Zelandra is saying, but leaving this out of a new model seems kind of...shortsighted to me.
With that said, this one IS geared towards the more hardcore 360 fan, and if they're a hardcore 360 fan, its quite likely that they'd rather use wired over wireless.
Sorry, but I think nintendo is the only one out there that isn't fucking stupid and actually making money here.
Tal has a point here too, look it up on any gaming site, Nintendo were the only ones making money at launch on every console sold. I believe Microsoft is now, because the parts are cheaper now, but for that first year they took a loss for every console sold.
Furthermore, comparing the Wii to the 360/PS3 is like apples and oranges. The Wii was made for a completely different demographic. The Wii is attempting to involve everyone, in every age group, in gaming. The industry IS growing, but it could grow so much faster if people had an easier time getting a hold of things.

People that still keep saying that the Wii is the only console to buy is just like Apple users: They're so fucking skinny 'cause they use up all the calories they consume in bragging about how a low-end product is so good (yes, I got that from Maddox).
Digita1:
As Chowder said. The Wii has yet to do better than the 360, besides in consoles sold # month now around the launch of the Wii. You should stop trying to side with Talroth when you don't know what's up. I'm sorry but your boy-toy can defend himself well without your idiotic comments.
The 360 is a better system hardware wise
The 360 is a better system game wise (current and line-up)
The 360 is a better system in their online world (Live)
The 360 is a better system in regards to what they're going to give us (Tivo on my 360? yes plix).
The 360 is a better system because Microsoft has billions of dollars it can fuck around with to make me happy, and they don't care if they make a ton of money. How awsome is that?

Oh btw, I don't have to do shit with my ethernet. There's about 6 inches between my router (which is connected to my cable modem that's right next to it) and my 360.

Does anybody else feel kind of gypped with this?
People pay for the premium package, since they're the hardcore gamers and think that they're not going to have to have to invest in a new bad ass system for another 5 years. They tell themselves that they don't need the overpowered PS3 because the Xbox 360 has a half a year head start and that all the future games coming out for it will be playable.
Now the elite is coming out. And their premium bundle isn't the cream of the crop.
I know I was pissed when they advertised HD capabilities and it didn't have HDMI.
And you KNOW that the limited amount of consoles will have "Elite Only" titles.. How do you know that? It's Microsoft.

yeah, sort of. when microsoft announced their IPTV dealie, what with the xbox being a DVR and all, i thought that the 20gb hdd was going to be trash, since it comes out of the box with only 12gb space free anyway. i'm really looking forward to that, but i'm not quite sure if i'm going to manage using it as a dvr with such a harddrive. so while i'd like to upgrade, i'm not sure it's worth the cost, just so i could get to watch something stupid on tv and not have to delete it.
the hdmi thing doesn't interest me, nor bother me. "elite only" titles, that's bullshit, won't happen, they're the same exact system. the only thing i feel gypped about is that harddrive. microsoft's 20gb hdd is 99.99, i don't wanna think about what a 120gb is gonna be.

Some of the best games can come from the poorest of graphics. To deny that is fooldhardy. Don't get the newly designed gamecube games comment.... That would be like me saying Halo 3 is a newly designed xbox game lol. And you completely ignored the part where I was talking about their target audience. So your router and your 360 are very close to each other. GOOD FOR YOU, most people have their TV far away from their router. I thought the argument for a 360 over a PC was its ease of use. Sure, getting the right length of cable to a 360 in the average home isn't difficult but its quite annoying. For a premium product not having WiFi is disgusting.
Whats funny is the xbox 360 sold more slowly than the wii did at their launches... There were over a million more wii consoles bought than the 360 at its launch. (Part of that is due to availibility). I just find it odd that microsoft doesnt expect to turn a profit until 08 and same with sony... That business stratedgy does not make sense to me at all. You are so close minded sometimes you could probably have your own show on CNN.

Just get the WiFi adapter if you're going to cry about it. What can you do with your WiFi on the Wii? OH WATCH THE WEATHER AND SURF THE WEB? Why not just use your computer? It would be valid if the Wii actually had a use for the internet, but unluckily, it doesn't.
Microsofts business strategy is to take their largest competitor, Sony, and crush them. It seems to be working, no? They're not even worrying about the Wii because it's not even close to their demographic. Who the fuck cares about people that want gaming to be like the Wii?
I mean fuck, I play my Wii from time to time, when I'm high or drunk with my friends, it's fun. But I'm not even going to attempt to argue that it can compete with the 360 in any way.
Just because there are more fruits sold per day than the 360, I don't care. They're two completely different products and should not be compared. Hence, the Wii shouldn't even be allowed to be compared to the glory that is the 360.
If you want to call me close minded, go ahead. But right now your only argument is that it doesn't have WiFi, and who the fuck cares when it comes to consoles? I'm as close minded as any other person, I just think it's retarded not to agree with me.
Also: Does it look like I give a fuck about what the average user has or doesn't have? If I can set it up so I'm happy everyone else can go fuck themselves.

Good thing I didn't say that then. You're comparing two different audiences in your argument. Thats what I'm saying.
I don't think anyone in this thread is denying that in the long run, Microsoft has the battle won. Anyone that does deny it doesn't understand the differences in developing for the XBOX/PC and the other consoles. Microsoft won the battle as soon as they introduced XNA.
PS, the Apple comment doesn't quite make sense. Apple computers aren't low end, they're quite powerful. The reason most people criticize them, or any Apple product, is the price tag that comes with the Apple name.

I'll admit as far as online is concerned Microsoft really knows what they are doing. The wii will have online multiplayer games in the future. Yes, it is dissapointing no argument there.

I don't really think their buisness strategy is to crush Sony, they just kind of lucked out in that Sony screwed up with the PS3, and therefore have no real competition. But I agree with what you said on their no stance policy with the Wii.
