View Full Version : A Humble Apology

On behalf of the American people, specifically those who do not believe in torture, I offer you my humblest apologies for our treatment of your citizen. Australia has always been a good friend to the United States and for us to treat your citizens this way, to me, is appalling. I am sorry.

Did either of you read what I wrote at all? Lemme repharse a little: We hear about these such topics he wants to "discuss" here, in the paper, news, radio, etc. I didn't say 'I don't care about these topics' and want to ignore them completely. Most people just don't care to discuss them on a board like this, where no one takes anything serious and posts are for fun. You got 1 semi-serious response and others just fucking around...c'mon its obvious no one cares. :/ Imo, discuss it on a political forum if you want serious responses to debate about. ;) Not to mention, not many people have been posting lately...prolly not going to get much of a response to anything. :(

Zel, I hear exactly what you are saying. I stipulate that some, even many may not like the topics I post about. There are many topics that are posted on this forum that I don't like. You know what I do when I see one.....I ignore it. Everyone has the right to post whatever they want on a open forum. If a mod tells me my topics are not "Mondratedworthy" then I will not post them. However, I'm not going to listen to the likes of you or Grindrolas or anyone else (not of the mod status) that attempts to moderate my posts. It isn't your job, and furthermore, it is presumptuous in the extreme for you to assume that you speak for everyone (especially when this thread shows you don't). Now, as to why I choose to post this stuff here....I can see how on the surface it may seem a little ridiculous to post these topics in a gaming forum (OT as it may be). I disagree with that and instead say this is actually the very best place to post this stuff....why? Because if I can get one person from this demographic to actually care about what is going on in OUR world (because I realize most people here really don't), then I have succeeded. You might be surprised at the amount of pms I've gotten thanking me for posting these topics (having the guts to post them actually). If you are an American then I can assume you are not about censorship (1st amendment and all that). Therefore, I would ask you, and anyone else who has a problem with these topics to ignore my threads. Please. Allow me and the other few people who actually care about current events (or those who might be curious) to discuss them in peace. In return, I promise not to criticize your threads, or jump on them and spam how stupid and inappropriate I think they are. Deal? Also, this topic wasn't even something I wanted to have, what I refer to as, a guided discussion on. This was me genuinely feeling bad about the treatment of an Australian citizen by our govt. I know there are Brits and Aussies who post here and it really was for their benefit. There really isn't anything more to discuss.

Grindrolas

We get enough of it everywhere else. Do you understand that? We are BOMBARDED with shit like this everywhere else. Some of us like to come here to escape it, and to just have fun. If you insist on posting it, maybe Wigglr should make a forum for serious shit so the lot of us who DON'T want to read it, don't even have to know it exists. Like I've said before, there are plenty of places where people WANT to discuss this.

I don't understand why it's so hard for you to understand that people on this forum don't care for the type of political posts you make.

Agreed, this is an open forum, to an extent. The "open-ness" goes as far as to say that we post ridiculous things, like our asses. Everyone has stated it so far in this thread that these forums are an escape from the political bullshit that we see everywhere else.

When I get tired of watching CNN and MSNBC, and hearing all the political drivel they talk about all day, which is pretty much ALL they talk about now, I come here to relax and have a good laugh. I don't want to come here and see yet ANOTHER political fiasco. I go to specific forums that are MEANT for that sort of thing. These forums are MEANT for us to post pictures of our asses, naked women and Archaos to be emo. That's the purpose of these forums. It isn't the whole "Just ignore it" thing, it's the fact that it's there, staring us in the face, and it's sad to know that people like you exist and to know we can never escape something so trivial.

With the amount of people who have chimed in with "I don't care", regarding some of my threads, I felt safe in making the claim that MOST people here don't care about these topics.

If you actually took the time to read what I post (instead of blindly criticizing it) you would note that the sources and topics I post about are not in the mainstream media (for the most part). Ergo (latin for therefore), you are not being bombarded by it unless you are actively seeking to bombard yourself with it. What you are being bombarded by is Brittany Spears's shaved head and Anna Nicole Smith's postmortem paternity hearings. I know because I watch the mainstream media just as much as I research alternate sources of information. Also, I'm not sure why you are trying to make yourself out as conscientious, whenever I post a topic you are one of the first to jump in and say "NO ONE CARES". Aren't you contradicting yourself a bit here? Maybe you should stop telling other people what to do and how to live their lives (that's an American attitude...aren't you from Canada?).

I mean seriously, what is so hard about ignoring a thread when you don't like the topic?

Everyone likes to do different things. I like to provoke discussions on issues that I believe should be near and dear to every American (and everyone else for that matter). We all live in the same world don't we? Its a shame that all you watch is CNN and MSNBC...I hope you don't think you are well informed because of that. At risk of sounding like a broken record I say again, if you don't like my threads, don't read them. There is no "extent" that I am aware of in regards to the allowable topics on this forum. If you guys can post pics of each others asses, then I can (until otherwise instructed by a moderator) post threads about world events and anything else I decide. I really don't see the problem.

I dunno, while I agree anything goes, theres a few topics that will end up getting people really heated, and, as I've already stated, this forum isn't exactly the epitome of seriousness.

If people really do want to have serious discussions on it, I'll shut up about it, but how many serious responses are in any of Will's threads? Most of the time it deteriorates (partly because of yours truly) to a "Will, you're a dumb fucking faggot" thread.

John Howard has the ability to get him home with a phone call to his best bud, and he refuses to do it. A great many in aus beleive he will play that card in the upcoming election, bring him home and parade him around as a party triumph.

Makes me fucking ill that assholes like howard and bush can fuck with peoples lives like this, regardless if Hicks is a terrorist or not, thats depravity of basic human rights.

If I was hicks, spending 5 years in prison, being tortured and held without trial or charges, Id probably try and kill the guards, regardless if I was innocent or not to begin with. That system is completley fucked up beyond all recognition.
