Immigration here in Canada has been giving Siri a hard time from the get-go.. getting tired of it.. and the weather.. altho a ginger in the cali sun might prove to kill me in the end.. the lawyer I just hired isn't proving to be much good..
No Dell campus in Cali tho.
And by hard time.. I mean, the gov't works so slow that Siri wouldn't be able to work here for quite awhile, I've already put in over 1000 worth of application fees to the gov't, not including the cost of a lawyer.. Last time we tried this we were apart for a year before she returned due to immigration blocking things from working.. no reason given, inconsistent information.. the situation is more ridiculous now than ever..
Canada to US seems alot easier than US to Canada

There are other nice places to live besides Cali, not to mention Cali is expensive living. Texas , and some other southern states are pretty nice, northern isn't too bad either (but you wanna get away from that weather). I would like to move to Florida sometime in the future.

Ya we were working a sponsorship application for permanent residence, have our marriage license etc. None of it matters to them right now...
The reason I say Cali is because her family is there, would have to work from the ground up all over again.. but thats not hard I've got enough education/work experience.. where else would I go in the US besides Cali.. only other option would be to transfer to a different Dell campus.. so thats either roundrock, or nashville

The weather isn't a deciding factor.. Drea's family invited me down to Cali over a year ago but I declined since I had already established myself here (apt/solid job/car etc) and I'd be temporarily supported by people in her family.. so we decided to stay here. But we've done almost everything we can and we're getting shafted, I just missed my next job promotion because I've had to take off so much time at work to deal with it.

True to a point....But in Cali right now you need to be making 6 figures to buy a house on one income........ Right now it's so ridiculous. 400k for a shithole that's 1200 sqft. Hey Vic I don't know you or Siri that well but that really sucks ass that they are detaining her and you guys are having such an issue.
Moving to the US might not be such a bad option if that shit up there doesn't stop. If you decided to go closer to her family I'm sure she'd love that. If not anywhere in the US would probably be better than putting up with the bullshit you've been putting up with there. As was said before, make sure you get a work visa ...
I live in Wisconsin .... job market isn't too bad here and the cost of living is pretty low. Real estate here runs around 250k for 2300-2500 sq. ft. The apartment I live in right now is in a decent neighborhood .... 3 bedrooms, includes heat and is bigger than most smaller single family homes for $750. The town I live in is right smack dap between Milwaukee and Chicago .... 30 min. north to Milwaukee and an hour south to Chicago. The weather here is probably not that different though.

I should know more tomorrow... nothing is making sense and whats happening at the moment, shouldn't be, my lawyer has yet to sink into the case though.
We made our original decision to stay in Canada because I have my apt/car/job here and I'm on my feet, while Siri is still at home base w/ her family. But its as if the system is geared to let in people from war torn countries.. we give refugees STARTER CASH for 1 year and the eligibility to work instantly.. whilst Siri has had the opportunity to.. visit. A US citizen.. our neighbor, the ones we're supposed to be very close to.. and neither of us have any type of record.
I've prepared to have the car traded back in for a small loss, insurance is on hold, job has been notified, boxes are ready, I'm ready to pack up and leave, this is getting absurd..

lol yes, move close to me!!! On a further note, Arizona has a huge job market. Just as long as you can bare the 120 degree summers. Cost of living isn't terrible, thou the housing market is a bit high at the moment so buying a house most people go to the outskirts and manage the hour - hour and a half drive to work. Apartments are cheap, most 2 bedrooms range from 650-900 a month, in some of the really heavily populated nicer areas 1000-1200 a month.

if god reduced or removed all of man's suffering he would be revealed, taking away our freedom to choose whether or not to believe him. if he only selectively chose to help people then that would mean he is not benevolent

Bible hugger, thumper, Jesus freak and any otherwise associated term do not offend me in any which way shape or form. I am not your average Christian Luke. Do I love Jesus and believe in the Christianity ..(True, real like book of Acts Christianity) ... Yes. If you'd like more info on that type of Christianity ... feel free to ask ... I don't devulge information unless asked first because another point ... my beliefs are EXACTLY that ... Mine and mine alone ... I share my experience if people want to know, otherwise I keep my mouth shut. My job isn't to make people hate Jesus ... although I think many many Christians seem to forget that.
Funny, one of my very very best friends just asked me this same question because He's had some REALLLLYYYY Fucked up shit happen in his life and wanted to know why God would allow people to suffer. I'm putting this disclaimer out here right now ... these are my beliefs and mine alone ... I am NOT trying to push anyone into believing the same as me, but if You have more questions after this I'll be open to answer whatever I can.
First: I do not believe God causes bad things. The bible says (yes I do believe in the bible) that the Devil comes to steal kill and destroy ... so anything having to do with those three categories, God did not do because the bible also says that Jesus came to give life and life more abundantly. Satan is a lying bastard and wishes for nothing but to destroy this earth and every living thing on it. That's my belief as far as that goes.
Second: I believe that God does have a plan for the church and there is a reason for the church. I believe the church (i'm not talking denominations here, I'm talking people who have faith) has a purpose here on earth and that the plan hasn't been outworked yet. I do believe in the book of ressurection which talks about Jesus' return to earth and a 1000 years of peace (think Utopia). But before that happends there is much much suffering because the church isn't perfect or unified ... pick a denomination anyone? Do I think I'll see Jesus here on earth in my lifetime? Nope probably not.
Third: I believe as Grog said if there was no suffering then we would actually KNOW God and there would be NO choice but to love him and accept him and believe in him ... that takes away free will and that's not God's plan in any way shape or form. God wants us to have a relationship with him because we WANT to ... not because He forced us into it.
Fourth: I believe God helps people who at least TRY to help themselves. If you are sitting on your ass in your same situation not trying to do a dayum thing to change it ... guess what it's not going to change.
If you really want to get an idea of suffering read the book of Job in the bible. And before you say anything ... reading the bible does NOT make you a bible hugger or anything like that ... BELIEVING the bible makes you a bible hugger. Just reading it is a good way to gain knowledge and maybe have a different perspective on things. The book of Job really looks into the mystery of human suffering and contrasts the invisible workings of the spirit realm against the reasonings of everday men and women. It teaches about patience, but much more than that it proves that Satan is the AUTHOR of all misery.
I really think that Faith is a gift ... it has helped me through some very terrible times in my life (i've almost died on not one, but two occasions) and my faith has brought things into a more clear light where I might not of understood without it.
Sorry this is so long, but it really isn't a one word or one sentence answer type of question.

Siri is from California, Vic is from Ottawa Canada! :p
There are other nice places to live besides Cali, not to mention Cali is expensive living. Texas , and some other southern states are pretty nice, northern isn't too bad either (but you wanna get away from that weather). I would like to move to Florida sometime in the future.
Move to Tampa imo.

my dad runs the shansi memorial association at oberlin college. this is kind of what he does. he gets american and european students to go to asia to teach english and brings asian students to come to america to teach their language and culture. hes been doing it for around 35 years now.

Fourth: I believe God helps people who at least TRY to help themselves. If you are sitting on your ass in your same situation not trying to do a dayum thing to change it ... guess what it's not going to change.
wouldn't this be called helping yourself?

*smiles* it's called Faith guys ... *shrugs* To be honest, I could frankly careless if someone believes in the marshmellow man ... but to sit there and be ignorant enough to think there is NOTHING bigger than you out there ... well I guess I'm just happy I don't believe the world revolves around me.
I mean really ... humans are the highest level of intelligence there is in the whole UNIVERSE? Please tell me that's not so because if it is ... I'm suddenly very scared.
Like I said ... I could careless if people believe in sponge bob square pants ... *smiles* although I'll still hold to the fact that I'm not changing my beliefs.
And Vic ... Belief and Idea are two very different things.
I really don't want to get into why I believe what I do so please don't push me into it. Just take it for what it is ... I'm a 27 year old woman, who's a freak, has multiple tattoos and a few piercings, and tends to love Jesus. I'm not asking you too do or be anything other than you are *smiles*

who says we're the highest level of intelligence in the universe?...that doesn't mean it has to be god. mathamatically there are billions of other civilizations out there...but we are so far away, that there is no way to prove it. i will believe i what i do, and you can believe what you do, because both are much in the same i suppose...one however, cannot be explained with science, and i will leave it at that.
and please do not cite it as ignorance. talking about stories that people wrote hundreds of years ago and using them to guide your modern life while speaking to an invisible man that only helps you if you help yourself...come now, this seems a bit delusional to me.
but at the end of the day, if having these beliefs helps you to understand the world and your place in it, then more power to you...however, calling people ignorant because they dont share these same notions is ignorant in itself.

i wasn't calling you ignorant Gaf ... I was calling people who believe there is NOTHING else out there ignorant. "but to sit there and be ignorant enough to think there is NOTHING bigger than you out there ... well I guess I'm just happy I don't believe the world revolves around me." THAT's what I said.
Actually you and I are pretty much saying the SAME exact thing just using different words and coming from a different form of belief. I will still hold to the opinion that People who believe that they are it and there is nothing else out there are ignorant because hello ... this universe is fucking big ... thats a pretty narccasstic thought.
And just to clarify ... I don't believe God only helps those who help themselves ... I just believe it makes it a little bit easier on yourself and God.
I also find it hard to talk about my faith with people who have no knowledge of the bible or what it says ... because yes the stories were written thousands of years ago ... but the princepals behind the writting are very easy to put into modern day language. I love to talk about my faith with people who don't believe as I do but still have a pretty big knowledge of the bible and what it says ... it makes for a much better discussion.

As an immigrant in the US I know that it can even be tough shit with a Visa etc. Myself I have a green card (which is like impossible to get right now) and it makes shit so much easier....once you have that you're set.
I'm not sure of Canada to US though, maybe it's different.

Yea, the question is how long it'll take for you to get it.
We re-newed ours, and it took them two years to come to us. It was fucking ridiculous how many people don't know that you can extend an "old" green card a couple of years, while you're getting your shit removed, so I ran into a lot of issues with it.
Nonetheless, once you have a green card it's like being a citizen, only a little bit different.

Well.. the argument at the moment is this...
Siri arrived here on December 10th 2006, and explained what our plans were, to get married, sponsor her as a permanent resident under the spousal class etc. Now the average time it takes to prepare (with a lawyer) these applications (we're talking over 50 pages of forms to fill out as well as supporting documents) take 2-3 months to PREPARE.. and they gave us 1 month, 3 weeks of it being during holidays where no Gov't department has staff that work during Holidays.. And visitors are supposed to be permitted for 6 months..

I actually only saw one butch lesbo, but she didnt stay in the cell/room I did. I was basically in a room with 15 other girls much older than me who had kids on the outside and most of them were pretty much crackheads=/ I slept on metal bunkbeds pretty much. Its so gross in there omg. I never knew girls could be so disgusting aswell. From the first few days I was there the girls were scared of me. Im guessing cuz I was the only hispanic looking chick there. There was one black girl and the rest were white crack heads lmao it was pretty bad and somewhat depressing to see what has happened to some of the Canadian youth. So I'm stealing this Canadian guy and taking him back to California!!!
