Ive noticed a lot of people have not figured how to use the new embedded video VbCodes in their posts and still use links for viewing the content. Currently, I have created custom VBCodes for Youtube, Google, Myspace and Metacafe.
Q: What is an Embedded video?
A: An Embedded video is a video that makes use of HTML tags and custom VBCode to post a mini "Video Player" into a post when you follow the following instructions.
Q: What is so advantagous about using the Embedded Player?
A: Rather than having to provide a link to the video from another website, you can just use the html code to provide a video player in your post that will play the appropriate video when you press play. Pretty much, it saves you taskbar space and time.
Q: Ok, sounds cool but how do i do it?
A: Its extremely easy, just follow these instructions.
There are two different ways you can create the VBCode. Either write it yourself, or use the editor toolbar button to do the work for you. So that you understand how it works, I'm going to explain writing the code yourself first.
Youtube
Here we have a link to a Youtube Video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHCNMPUG3IE - Now to create the embedded player.
From that link you should copy the letters and numbers after the V= part so you have the following - GHCNMPUG3IE - this is all you need from the link.
The custom VBCode you would use is this - <youtube>GHCNMPUG3IE</youtube> - Please note that you must use the [ and ] brackets instead of the < and > ones, I only used those to show you the correct wording.
Now if we use the complete and correctly labeled coding from above we should have this result.

Google Video
Here we have a link to a Google Video - http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=1683904753591418321 - Now to create the embedded player.
From that link you should copy the numbers after the docid= part so you have the following - 1683904753591418321 - this is all you need from the link.
The custom VBCode you would use is this - <googlevideo>1683904753591418321</googlevideo> - Please note that you must use the [ and ] brackets instead of the < and > ones, I only used those to show you the correct wording.
Now if we use the complete and correctly labeled coding from above we should have this result.

Metacafe
Here we have a link to a Metacafe Video - http://www.metacafe.com/watch/421642/lip_balm_secret_missile/ - Now to create the embedded player.
From that link you should copy everything after the watch/ part so you have the following - 421642/lip_balm_secret_missile - this is all you need from the link.
The custom VBCode you would use is this - <metacafe>421642/lip_balm_secret_missile</metacafe> - Please note that you must use the [ and ] brackets instead of the < and > ones, I only used those to show you the correct wording.
Now if we use the complete and correctly labeled coding from above we should have this result.

Myspace
Here we have a link to a Myspace Video - http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=556332984 - Now to create the embedded player.
From that link you should copy the numbers after the videoid= part so that you have the following - 556332984 - this is all you need from the link.
The custom VBCode you would use is <myspace>556332984</myspace> - Please note that you must use the [ and ] brackets instead of the < and > ones, I only used those to show you the correct wording.
Now if we use the complete and correctly labeled coding from above we should have this result.

Using the toolbar to do the work for you
On the toolbar, we have this button: http://www.themondrated.com/images/editor/MC_video_icon.gif
